You know what you want. Maybe. But you don’t know what’s next, whats necessary, whats the budget, whats the permits, and on and on. And if you’re NOT stuck at those question, you are already working with a knowledgeable person OR you may still just be in the ‘thinking' phase. No problem. It is a natural part of the building process. And we are Builders for that reason; knowledgeable about the entire process, and able to construct the changes and growth you believe your home needs.
Know Your House
When it comes to home remodels and home additions, it is of often forgotten that the current house was built to stay like that! Your house has its bones and feet (its framing and its foundation) that if changed, removed, or forgotten, can lead to deformities soon after the final coat of paint is applied or even on down the road. Knowing there are constraints to your renovation and addition ideas inherent to the way your home was originally built will make your invested time, emotions, and money more secure. And when there is a foundation already laid, each builder must choose with care how to build on it, and we do that.
Know Your People
Finding a good contractor is not just a financial question. Your home will be shared by this contractor and his people for the duration of your renovation or addition. You will talk and make decisions together about money, materials, schedules, delays and changes, etc. We have seen too many times where beautiful builds have sour memories attached to them because of communication breakdowns between builder and owner. This reality has sharpened our empathy toward you as home owners. We get it. It’s been our goal from the beginning to develop a team of professionals — from GC to project managers to the skilled workers — that will treat you and your home with respect. We stake our reputation upon it.
Know What to Expect
The creative process does not come naturally to everyone. It all starts by deciding what you want to accomplish with your remodel or addition. Easier said than done. Sometimes our desires and expectations are held back by money or municipal codes or existing conditions. But those are often foreseeable problems to work thru with your builder prior to starting your project. Most big problems occur when there isn’t clarity on how we are going to build you what you want. “What happens if I want to change the flooring or lights or whatever, and what if it’s last minute? When do I have to make final decisions about my paint color or my windows selection?” There are so many questions that, when left unaddressed at the beginning, leave both sides vulnerable to frustration. We know all the details, from foundations to faucets. We will be up front on issues, follow-thru on solutions, and we ask all the questions - because we have been thru it before.
